The Center for Sustainable Urban Development and Culture “Structure” is a non-governmental and non-profit organization founded in Serbia in 2008. “Structure” focuses on projects and programs that promote environmental protection and sustainable development of cities, also art and culture in accordance with the global and European development agendas to which Serbia is a signatory.
In 2016, with the support of the United Nations, Columbia University in New York City, and the University of Belgrade, “Struktura” organized a series of open talks and debates at various world forums in Indonesia and Ecuador, discussing the themes of migrations, housing the urban poor, and (illegal/risk-free) construction practices. In 2017, the Center “Structure” translated the New Urban Agenda into Serbian with the support of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Republic of Serbia, and organized numerous events related to the implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Serbia and the region. The Center “Structure” is also actively working on the promotion of urban practices and culture in Serbia and the Balkans. During the World Urban Forum held in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in 2018, “Struktura” organized an event focusing on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Eastern Europe with partners from government institutions from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as United Nations agencies and other stakeholders. In 2022, Center “Structure” worked on numerous art and culture initiatives that were part of the official programme of “Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture”.
